Donated furniture given to approximately 100 families recovering from Hurricane Harvey

AUSTIN, Texas (August 14, 2019) — Over the past few weeks, Landmark Properties, a national student housing developer, has been donating items from its University Towers apartment building to the Austin Disaster Relief Network.

To date, the company has provided approximately 1,800 pieces of furniture to the local nonprofit organization, which focuses on disaster relief and response in the Greater Austin community. Landmark’s donations — which include a long list of items from couches to mattresses to dining room tables and more — will be sent to 100 families impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

“Austin is an important community for our organization, and we believe in being good neighbors in every community we serve,” Landmark Properties President & CEO Wes Rogers said. “Of course, we have apartments buildings and residents here, but we have team members and partners here, too — all of whom mean a great deal to us.”

“Hurricane Harvey had a devastating impact on many families, and we know that type of destruction cannot be fixed in a day, a week, or even a year. As the community rebuilds, we want to help in that process,” Rogers said. “We saw an opportunity to meet a need for these families, and we’re grateful to be in a position to contribute in some way.”

The donated furniture came from University Towers, a housing development located on W 24th Street that Landmark purchased in 2018. The company plans to redevelop the site into a new and improved mixed-use development, known as The Standard at Austin.
